Privacy notice

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Ranker is built by a solo developer, for people who play together. This notice explains what the app collects, what it does not, how long data is kept, and what happens to your data when you leave or delete a Ranker.

What we collect

Ranker collects only what it needs to run your Rankers and fix bugs:

  • A display name — the one you choose when you join a Ranker.
  • A random device identifier — generated on your device so the app can tell your device apart from others in the same Ranker. It reveals nothing about you or your device.
  • The content of your Rankers — the Ranker’s name and emoji, player names (including those the creator types in for other people), games, their results and scores as written, and the edit history (who added, reverted or restored a game).
  • Crash reports — if the app crashes, a technical report (device model, OS version, app version, where in the code the crash happened, and a random installation identifier) is sent to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, so the bug can be fixed. Each time the app opens, Crashlytics also records a short session signal with the same technical details, so crash rates can be measured. Neither ever contains your name, your games or your scores.

The display name, the device identifier and the content of your Rankers are tied to that random identifier, never to your real identity: there is no account, no email and no phone number. Ranker’s server uses your IP address only briefly, in memory, to limit abuse (too many requests in one minute), and does not store it. Our hosting provider, Fly.io, may keep it for a limited time in its network logs, for security and operations.

That is the whole list. Ranker does not collect your email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or biometric data. There are no advertising identifiers, no usage analytics, and no tracking — not across apps, not across the web, not at all.

Who sees what

A Ranker’s content is visible to all its members. Anyone who has its invite code or link can join it and see that content: only share it with your group.

How Ranker is organised

Ranker is peer-managed. A Ranker belongs to the group that plays in it, not to a company. The person who creates a Ranker can rename it, add players, and delete it. If they leave the Ranker, this role passes automatically to the longest-standing member. Anyone who joins can record results and leave. There is no account, no login, and no central profile that follows you between groups.

Leaving and deleting

  • Any member can leave a Ranker. When you leave, your past results stay in that Ranker’s history, under your display name — the games you played and the points you earned are still part of the standings, so your opponents’ rankings stay fair.
  • The creator can delete a Ranker. Deleting removes the Ranker and all its games, for everyone. It cannot be undone.
  • You can have your data erased. Write to support@icecode.fr with the name of the Ranker (or Rankers) and your display name; we erase it within 30 days. Copies in encrypted backups disappear within 30 days too, as explained below.

How long data is kept

Ranker’s server runs at Fly.io, in Paris (France); its encrypted backups are stored with Tigris, Fly.io’s storage partner.

  • A Ranker’s content is kept for as long as the Ranker exists. When it is deleted, all its data is removed from our live systems immediately; encrypted backups may keep copies for up to 30 days before they are permanently overwritten.
  • The device identifier is kept for as long as you use Ranker. You can ask us to erase it by writing to us.
  • Crash reports and session signals are kept for 90 days by Firebase Crashlytics, then deleted.

Store data labels

Ranker’s data-collection labels on the App Store and Google Play match exactly what is written here: a display name, a device identifier and the content of your Rankers, tied to that random identifier and used only to make the app work; crash reports and session signals, not tied to it and used only to fix bugs. None of it is used to track you or for advertising.
